Fresh out of sixth form, David was uncertain about his career path. His decision to join the U.K. Ministry of Defence’s apprenticeship program enabled him to explore various engineering disciplines.  However, it was the meticulous world of metrology that truly captivated him. This fascination led David to the Services Electrical Standards Centre (S.E.S.C.), where he worked alongside esteemed metrology experts. Their guidance fanned the flames of David’s interest in metrology, solidifying his career path. Today, David thrives in Trescal’s Yateley laboratory, collaborating with expert engineers and sharing his knowledge with the next generation of apprentices.

From Apprentice to Leader: My Career Journey

In 2009, I joined Trescal through the acquisition of ASAP Calibration and QEMS assets from QinetiQ Group. Since then, my journey at Trescal has been continuous growth and learning. I have progressed to Head of DC/LF and RF laboratories, leading a team of twelve engineers. My focus is on fostering a dynamic work environment that blends experience with fresh perspectives and encourages the full potential of my talented team.

Working at Trescal has provided me with an invaluable experience. I learned from seasoned engineers who are recognized experts in their fields. Additionally, I have the privilege of mentoring a group of enthusiastic apprentices and young graduates. Trescal is committed to future talent in our profession, and I take pride in sharing my knowledge with the next generation.

Trescal’s investment in my growth has instilled a great sense of loyalty. I am proud to have played a role in Trescal’s continued success, and I take pride in contributing to our calibration expertise.
